When our decade-old HVAC system couldn’t cool our house below 76 degrees today, we knew who to call: Total Air & Plumbing. Earlier this year, Mekonnen delivered some updates we didn’t want to hear about repairs needed: but he was on-point for every single item. We got other competitors’ quotes for a new install on one unit and ultimately went with Total Air because of Mekonnen’s thorough honesty and hard work to clean all our HVAC elements. (New system is phenomenal). Then, today, when a different unit (the old one) was blowing progressively hotter air, the customer service rep got us scheduled right away and Rafael the tech was able to run some tests, replace a part, offer a warranty and get us cooled off inside of a few hours….wow!! We are very grateful and will sleep better tonight thanks to the team at this company. (Even though Grandma will need an extra blanket again.) Seriously - thank you!

What Is Hydro-Jetting?

Hydro-jetting is a cutting-edge technique that forces high-pressure water through your pipes, blasting away clogs and clearing debris. This technique removes build-up along the full length of the pipe rather than removing a single obstacle, helping you enjoy your home and peace of mind with fewer issues down the line.

Signs Hydro-Jetting Is Needed

While a plunger or pipe snake can solve many everyday clogs, hydro-jetting extends plumbers’ reach and power to clear problem blockages.

Signs that your system may need hydro-jetting include:

Advantages of Annual Hydro-Jetting

Hydro-jetting is a handy solution for serious clogs, but you don’t have to wait for an emergency to call in the pros. If some of the issues listed above sound familiar, schedule one of our eagle-eyed plumbers to inspect your pipes. Service today can prevent stubborn clogs from developing at all. Hydro-jetting clears silt, grease, hair, and debris that have been building up for years, transforming your plumbing’s overall performance.

Consider adding annual hydro-jetting to your home’s regular maintenance. As a preventative measure, hydro-jetting protects your health and property. Clearing gunk from your lines not only keeps pipes draining smoothly but also removes corrosive materials that eat away at plumbing.

Bad odors are often caused by bacteria, mold, and other pathogens that rise from drains and pollute your air. Cleaning removes the pathogens’ food source, limiting spread or annihilating them altogether.

Regular service can even extend your system’s lifetime. Reduced service calls for clogs keeps your wallet happy, and so does the lowered risk of secondary damage from severe clogs and backflow. Annual hydro-jetting is an easy investment in a smoother lifestyle.

That means a single service call potentially:

  • Saves you money
  • Reduces the risk of emergency plumbing issues
  • Improves air quality
  • Boosts your system’s day-to-day performance

Hydro-Jetting FAQs

These quick questions and answers can help you find solutions faster.

Hydro-jetting is safe for pipes in good condition. Old, deteriorated pipes may not be structurally sound enough to withstand the pressure, especially aging clay lines. Before hydro-jetting, your plumber should inspect the pipes in question to determine if hydro-jetting is appropriate as part of planning the best approach to the job.

The national average cost for hydro-jetting is between $350 and $600. However, hydro-jetting services can cost as little as $100 or as much as $2000. Contributing factors to the final bill include the accessibility of the drain, the pipe’s junction types, the difficulty of the clog, and the time spent onsite. Your plumber may be able to give you an estimate for your specific concern after an inspection.

While hydro-jetting is more expensive than many other clog removal techniques, it is much more thorough and creates longer-lasting results. It’s especially valuable for slow drains that routinely clog or back up.

To ensure a hydro-jetting service visit goes as smoothly as possible, make sure there’s a clear path and easy access to the line or drain being cleaned. It’s also a good idea to remove as much as possible from around the access point. In a kitchen, that could mean relocating dishracks and cleaning supplies. In a bathroom, remove things like soaps, toys, and towels. If there is a cabinet under a sink being serviced, be sure to empty it before the plumber arrives. Keep potential backsplash in mind, and remove anything that isn’t easily cleaned from the area.

Depending on the line being serviced, you may need to turn off your main water supply. Ask your plumber what preparations are needed when scheduling the service call or when inspection confirms hydro-jetting is needed.

Inspection is the first safety precaution. This ensures there are no extenuating circumstances compromising a pipe’s integrity, such as tree roots that have cracked open the line, and that the pipe can withstand the pressure.

While performing the service, plumbers should wear gloves and eye protection. Plumbers may wear additional protective clothing or face coverings in case of backsplash and detritus.
