Garbage Disposal Repair and Replacement in Plano, TX
Garbage disposals are useful additions to any kitchen. Not only are they convenient, but they’re also a fine green option because of how they help control food waste. Most garbage disposals don’t have sharp blades. Rather, they spin quite fast, and the centripetal force pushes the soft food particles against a grinding plate of some kind. Usually, it’s a simple process, and your garbage disposal will be an integral part of your kitchen.

Well-built garbage disposals last a long time, but even the best of them will break down or completely give up the ghost eventually. When that happens, fixing or replacing them is a job for a well-trained professional plumber. Fortunately, we have the expertise and experience to do the job right.

It’s been one year after they replaced all my AC vents and I still look forward to a reason to call their office as view their office staff more like “friends with incredible HVAC knowledge”!!!
This is the best run service company that I have ever dealt with, by far!
Subsequently it was determined that I needed a new system. Robert took the time to thoroughly assess the whole cooling system including ducts etc. He provided options and walked me through all of the "whys" and "wherefores" so that I had a good understanding. He was very knowledgeable and congenial.
And Noah and the installation crew for the new system were outstanding. Thorough, knowledgeable, courteous, and all of that working on a day of extreme Texas heat. Good job all!
Things That Can Go Wrong
Certain parts of the disposal can wear out and leak water. Also, the pipes that connect the garbage disposal to your home’s water system can leak and/or fail. If the garbage disposal clogs, then it could be either because you’ve put things down it you shouldn’t, or part of it has worn out.
Serious clogs can become complete jams. A jammed garbage disposal will back water up into the sink while humming, differentiating it from a clog, which won’t be accompanied by humming. While it’s true that it’s possible to rotate the garbage disposal flywheel yourself to try to unjam it, it’s not a good idea. If you were to break it, then it would just become something else that the professional you then have to call has to fix.
Speaking of humming, there are other sounds a garbage disposal shouldn’t make. For example, it shouldn’t rattle, growl, or produce metallic sounds. It also shouldn’t shake uncontrollably or emit smoke or other strange smells. All of these will necessitate a call to a professional.
Eggshells
Never, ever put eggshells into your garbage disposal. They might seem harmless, but the membrane that attaches to the inside of the shell can both cause clogs and even stop the flywheel from spinning.
Coffee Grounds
These are already pulverized, so putting them down the garbage disposal isn’t necessary. Also, the grounds can cake together with effects that are similar to eggshell membrane clogs and/or damage.
Repair or Replace?
Generally, this will depend on the number of repairs needed and the associated cost. A good rule to stick by is: If the cost of the repairs is half the cost of a new unit or more, then it’s time to replace the unit. Sometimes, a replacement is obvious, such as when the motor burns out after overheating. Other times, it’s a half-and-half proposition. We can advise you on the best course of action when it comes to repairing or replacing your nonworking garbage disposal.
